Feel Calmer Again — With Support in Your Language.

Free, practical support for adults with everyday stress, worry and low mood. No referral needed.

When Everything Feels Like Too Much

When stress, worry, or low mood build up, everything gets harder, like sleeping, focusing, and feeling close to the people you love.

And when support costs too much, only comes in English, or doesn’t understand your family, your faith, or your culture, it’s easy to keep putting it off.

So the thoughts that make the heart heavy stay heavy. You carry them alone, longer than you should.

It doesn’t have to be that way.

Support That Fits Your Life

Side by Side is for the worries that build up before they become bigger.

It’s early, everyday support. A first step toward feeling calmer and staying well.

Feeling low, anxious, overwhelmed, or not yourself — that’s what this program is for.

If you need more than that, you won’t be turned away without a next step. Your psychologist will help you find the right service. Either way, you’ll leave with somewhere to go.

Introducing Side by Side

You shouldn’t have to explain yourself twice, or hide part of who you are to get help. We understand how tiring it is to look for support that fits — the language, the cost, the worry about being judged. We know reaching out can feel like a big step.

Side by Side is a free, short mental health program for people from multicultural communities across South Western Sydney. It gives you:

  • Support in your language: a bilingual team, and free interpreters if we don’t speak yours
  • A short, practical program: up to six one-on-one sessions
  • Care that respects your culture: your family, gender, and religious and spiritual life
  • No cost, ever: free, with no referral, no Medicare, and no diagnosis needed
  • Near you or from home: in person at Fairfield or Bankstown, or by telehealth (we service all of South Western Sydney)
  • Complete confidentiality: what you share stays between you and your psychologist

For over 15 years, ProActive Psychology has supported multicultural communities across South Western Sydney. Side by Side is delivered by our qualified, registered mental health professionals, people who speak your language and understand your culture, because they share it.

We won’t try to change who you are. We’ll help you find a balanced perspective and keep your mind and body calm, in a way that respects your life.

Is Side by Side Right for You?

Side by Side is for you if:

It’s for early, everyday support — feeling worried, flat, or overwhelmed before things get heavier. It’s a first step toward staying well.

If you need more than that, you won’t be turned away without help. Your psychologist will point you to the right service. Either way, you’ll leave with somewhere to go.
