How our Fees Work...

The Australian Psychological Society’s 2024-25 recommended price for a standard 46 to 60-minute session is $311.

ProActive Psychology’s fees are significantly lower and more affordableYou may be eligible for Medicare Better AccessNDIS, and Private Health Insurance, depending on the required services

The ProActive Psychology Practice is NOT a bulk-billing service; however, you might be eligible for our FREE services, such as the Star4-Kids program.

Please note our Appointment Confirmations and Cancellations Policy that applies to all services.

Better Access (Medicare): $Rebate applies per session

To see a Psychologist at ProActive Psychology and access up to 10 therapy sessions a year, you’ll need a Mental Health Care Plan and a referral from your GP, Psychiatrist, or Pediatrician. When seeing a:

  • Psychologist, you can claim back $98.95 per 50-minute session.
  • Clinical Psychologist, you can claim back $145.25 per 50-minute session.

Private Health Insurance: $Private claim per session

You may be able to claim for psychological services through your private health fund. In many cases, this will significantly reduce the costs of therapy. Please check with your private health insurer for eligibility criteria.

Private: $30-260 per session

No referrals are required if you wish to arrange a private session with ProActive Psychology. Fees vary based on the experience and qualifications of the Psychologist you want to see. We have several Intern Psychologists who can provide very affordable and low-cost therapy services for clients who might not be able to afford the cost of seeing a registered or clinical psychologist:

Intern Psychologist (Clinical Masters) $50 | Provisional Psychologist $130 | Registered Psychologist $180 | Clinical Registrar $190 | Clinical Psychologist $240

NDIS: $Plan managed, agency, third-party and self-managed plans

The ProActive Psychology Practice is a fully registered NDIS provider of psychological services (therapeutic supports). We accept plans managed by the NDIS, agency, third-party support providers, or self-managed plans.

STAR4-KIDS: $FREE*

The STAR4-Kids program provides free psychological therapies to children aged 3-12 years with, or at risk of, developing mild to moderate mental illness, including depressive, anxiety or stress disorders, with barriers to accessing Better Access (Medicare).

*Eligible participants must reside within the South Western Sydney (PHN). The South Western Sydney PHN encompasses several local government areas and their corresponding postcodes. These include Camden, Campbelltown, Fairfield, Liverpool, the former Bankstown (now part of Canterbury-Bankstown), Wingecarribee, and Wollondilly.

You In Mind: $FREE*

The You in Mind program provides free and confidential psychological therapies, both individual and group-based, for those aged 13+ years who have, or are at risk of, a diagnosed mental illness and are part of one of the eligible population groups.

*Eligible participants must reside within the South Western Sydney (PHN). The South Western Sydney PHN encompasses several local government areas and their corresponding postcodes. These include Camden, Campbelltown, Fairfield, Liverpool, the former Bankstown (now part of Canterbury-Bankstown), Wingecarribee, and Wollondilly.

Assessments: $600 to $4,500 (+GST)

ProActive Psychology offers a wide of assessment options. Examples include:

Cognitive assessments (WISC, WAIS) and academic assessments (WIATT).

Behaviour assessments, Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD/ADHD), Oppositional Defiance Disorders, Conduct Disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Anxiety Disorders, Mood Disorders.

Comprehensive psychological assessmentsAdaptive Behaviour Assessment System (ABAS), Spence Children’s Anxiety Scale (SCAS), Child Behaviour Checklist (CBCL), Connors 3, Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS).

Ready to get started?

Consultation fees are payable at the beginning of each session and depend on which Psychologist you wish to see and the duration of your therapy session. Payments by credit card, EFTPOS, direct deposit or cash are accepted. We do not accept personal cheques. 

We charge fees for all psychological services delivered | Face-to-Face consultations | Online therapy and telehealth sessions | Home or school visits | Teleconferences with teachers, carers, parents, community support workers and third parties | Assessments and reports | Cognitive testing and reports | Support letters for University or Centrelink | Requests of photocopies for files notes by clients, third parties or when subpoenaed by the court | Cancellations and non-attendances.

Confirming Appointments and Cancellation Policy

At ProActive Psychology, we are deeply committed to your mental health and well-being, ensuring we provide high-quality psychological services tailored to your individual needs. Our psychologists invest significant time planning and preparing for your sessions, prioritising your appointment without overbooking, to devote the entire session time exclusively to you.

We kindly ask for your cooperation in confirming your appointments by responding to our SMS reminders for each session. This helps us manage our schedule effectively and extend our services to others in need.

Rescheduling and Cancellations

Please give us at least 48 hours notice (*2 business days*) to reschedule or cancel your appointment. 

Cancellation messages left outside of business hours on the answering machine will not be accepted, and a non-attendance fee will apply. 

This grace period allows us to offer your spot to another client on our busy waitlist who urgently needs our support. If you’re unwell, contact us at the earliest opportunity; we’re more than willing to discuss alternative options, such as online sessions, ensuring your therapy progress is uninterrupted.

Unexpected Circumstances

We understand life can be unpredictable, with sudden illnesses or emergencies. Please inform us immediately if such situations prevent you from keeping your appointment. Contacting us during your scheduled consultation will result in the full fee being charged, emphasising the importance of early communication.

Late Arrivals

Arriving on time for your appointments is crucial. If you are more than 20 minutes late, we cannot proceed with the session, as it compromises the effectiveness of the therapy. In these instances, a non-attendance fee will apply (refer fee schedule above).
